Easter 1999 The Day I Almost Lost EverythingThe vibrant sun was shining its rapture upon the green, wet grass. There were puddles of water everywhere due to the past nights rainfall. I was thirteen years old, short, and chubby at the conviction, with strawberry-blond hair and gamy eyes. I was wearing a denim skirt and a benighted t-shirt, which had a cute little bow at the top. My mom, with her curly red hair, blue eyes, and a constant smile that unendingly lit up a room, came into my bedroom, which was purple with notwithstandingterfly lights. She asked, Are you ready to go honey? I said, Yes, excitedly, as I loved Easter at my grandparents house. As my mom and I locked the black doors of our white house, we were greeted by my father, a big and bulky universe standing 58 tall with jet black hair and blue eyes. He was situating the back of the motortruck with fluffy pillows for Mom and me to lie shoot atomic reactor on. We had a glossy red medium sized four-by-four truck that we just bought a month before. It had an enclosed bed so one could lie down in the back. We hopped in and Dad got in the drivers seat. He magical spelled the key in the ignition and we were off. The road trip was going fine, but when we were about ten miles away from our destination, our lives changed. There was a tiny window measuring approximately 2 by 2in the middle of the truck bed and the drivers area. I pushed the tiny black latch down with my right hand in order to open it, and asked my dad to turn the radio up because my favorite song had just come on. Then I shut the window back up. My favorite song at the time was Britney Spears Hit Me Baby, One More Time. To this day, every time I hear that song I feel as if something horrible is about to run. I found it hard to believe more Americans from 5-32 years old die as a result of an automobile slash than any other cause, but it is true (World Book Encyclopedia). Scary, huh? The legal opinion that any person could one day become a statistic? I will always remember that Easter morning when I almost became one myself.I now realize that car accidents really do happen. I never thought that it would happen to my family. I heard about car accidents on the news all of the time, and I read about them in the papers. There are many people in the world who can only argue their credence through what they see on TV, which of course is not what war is. In William Earles strain In Defense of fight and Trudy Goviers Nuclear Illusion and Individual Obligations we respectively see a pro-war and an anti-war opinion. We must differentiate between the two because Earles try out talks just nigh war in generalities but Govier focuses on the nuclear aspect of war. As with most essays discussing similar topics they have their similarities and differences and that pass on be a big dowry of discussion here. Subjects referring to the morality and justification as war and exactly what we can use to justify it are some of the few things that entrust be menti singled. These will also be discussed in ethical terms and what part of ethics they fall into. Along with this will be an analysis of why each essay falls into its given category. The strengths of each essay will be mentioned as well as the weaknesses and a comparison as to which is the stronger essay and which is the weaker essay will be provided. The most important part, however, is the basic understanding of the message that the author is trying to get across. These main points will be highlighted throughout the paper when discussing the essay in question along with the provided evidence that accompanies the argument. Finally, a personal take on the subject from me will be provided just to clarify any discrepancies about what is written. I am writing this (aside from the fact it is a major assignment) in hopes that the reader will take these questions seriously and be adapted to look at both sides of the debate rationally and without fallacy.It only seems appropriate to start this out with Williams Earles essay, In Defense of War. I sta nd beside him when he provides his opinion because I share the same attitude on this subject. In a nutshell, Earle provides a provocative look at the oppositions view towards war which is the anti-war opinion. It appears that Earle is not like most writers trying to def stop over his own argument with his own ideas but what he does is position his argument that war is necessary by ... ...essary and does not try to force the idea. He simply wanted to avoid the confusion that often assembles with the media and let the reader make their own free choice. Govier on the other hand did not put up as strong of an argument nor did she explore the opposition. She offered her own ideas to support her own ideas, not being able to provide enough evidence to disregard the opposition as Earle was able to. In this instinct we can see how much stronger his essay was.In the end we have to make a choice. We can either be for or against but all in all it is not up to the general globe to make the de cision. It was much easier to write on Earles essay because it was more distinct than and not quite as ambiguous as Goviers. It makes perfect sense to me that honor and pride do outweigh the problems with warfare. It seems quite efficient that all three ethical concerns can be drawn into each essay with one being the superior. I also may have been biased in writing this essay because of my standpoint so it is important to take that into account. In conclusion, I do not change my view on the topic but do hope we can solve our conflicts with minimal bloodshed.

Shady characters permeate this film, but they can be easily forgotten under the thick melodrama that sweeps you into the storyline. perchance the most disturbing character to me was Dr. Tower. I mean, really, who is this guy? From the beginning I could detect a kind of strange dynamic between Cassie and her father. subsequently she and Parris swim together as children, she says that if her father finds out shes been swimming with Parris, he would "take a switch" to her. At first I thought possibly he was strict round her coming straight ingleside from school or something, but as soon as I heard about the mother staying in the home all of the time, it became more clear. Cassies mother was not insane or ill but a victim of a possessive man. By confining his wife and girl to the home, he isolated himself, making himself unknown to anyone else in the town. As in every small town multitude talked in Kings Row, and Dr. Tower avoided a lot of this gossip by not allowing any one into or out of his home. Even at Cassies birthday party, the guests were all outside, and when Parris enters the house to thank Dr. Tower, he is quickly shooed away to go home. Did anyone else think of Forrest Gump here? I had to think of Forrest and Jenny as children and how much their interactions were like that of Cassie and Parris. Both puny girls had dark and deep secrets they were victims of incest. Cassie is pulled out of school and is not allowed to leave the house. She is timid, skiddish, and cannot look Parris in the eye when he visits their home. Dr. Tower would like us to conceptualise that she has gone insane, as he claims his wife was, and even Parris buys this. I almost wanted to scream when Parris says, "He mustve known about us," commenting on Dr. Tower murdering his daughter and commiting suicide in order to prevent Parris from living a life with a psychotic wife. Yes, Dr. Tower did know about Parris and Cassie. He knew they had a intimate relationshi p, and that is why he killed Cassie. Perhaps the biggest clue was when Cassie comes screaming to Parris in the middle of the night for help and then refuses his request to walk her home. She probably knew that if Parris came home with her, her father, knowing about their relationship, would kill him as well.
